Commentary: In its 46th year Just A Minute spawned a spin-off - Junior Just A Minute. Played on Radio Four Extra in the early afternoon during the programming set aside for children, the format was only slightly tweaked from that familiar to the fans. Two experienced panellists, Jenny Eclair and Josie Lawrence captained teams, ther co-panellist being children in the 10-13 age group. The first four rounds were reduced to 40 seconds each, the next four were 50 seconds, and the last four were 60 seconds each. There was the occasional action of generosity towards the children, but in general, the rules applied as usual, and the children were remarkably confident and fluent. Some were better than others but there wasn't a dud all week and some were quite witty. Jenny, Josie and Nicholas hit exactly the right notes and the shows were all funny and enjoyable. An interesting and highly successful experiment.
